Day 8: Four more races to complete the Europeans

Four races have been sailed on Wednesday, the last day of the Europeans and so the reserve day will not be used. Wind with 4 to 11 knots from NorthEast was very difficult to sail. Shifts and differences in the windspeed where the main problem.
At the end of the day Jesper Armbrust (DEN) was one point ahead of Antonio Lambertini (ITA) and two points more in front of Soren Dulong Andreasen (DEN).

Day 7: First Race to the Europeans

After a whole day of waiting the wind showed up at 17:15 hrs. AP down, out to the race area. The course was set quickly and the start was ok at 18:10 hrs with 14 knots out of 25°. After the first round the wind decreases to 11 knots and shifted to 15°. At the finish there where 7 to 8 knots from 10°. The winner was Jesper Armbrust from Denmark, followed by Rob Smith from Great Britain.

Day 6: second day of the Europeans

The second day of the Europeans was again a day of waiting. Only the Race Committee was out on the water to measure the wind. No chance for racing!
In the evening all participants are invited to a boat tour with the "Atterseeschifffahrt" to the southend of the lake. Everybody enjoyed the time here - but tomorrow it should also be racing, the participants agreed.

On day fife of the event, the first day of the Europeans it starts with a short briefing and then waiting for the wind.

Day 4: Fourth day of the event, first day of racing

On day four of the event it was raining cats and dogs. Wind was blowing from SoutEast, South and SouthWest. The windspeed varied from 5 to 12 knots.
Very difficult for sailors as well as the race committee. Two races have been brought in Jesper Armbrust from Denmark took two times the first place. Even if some of the competitors where not happy with the results, it was a good practice for the Europeans.

Day 3: Second planned day of racing

On day three of the event there was bit more wind. The fleet leaves the harbour at 1000 hrs. The leeward mark was in the water with 8 knots coming from NorthEast. Five minutes later the windspeed dropped to 3 to 5 knots. After an hour of waiting race committee showed AP over H. Waiting inside again.
In the evening again fee beer was running. A sailors dinner made the participants also happy.
It was a nice warm day without any problems.

Equipment check

In joint coordination with ICA, the OC decided to do the following procedure for the measurement for/at the Europeans:

Sails: All sails will be controlled.
Lifejackets: We will check the PFDs and so we inform everyone that only regular certified PFDs will be allowed.
Corrector weights: These will be checked randomly!
Caution: Corrector weights have to comply with the measurement certificate.
It is not allowed, that boats have less corrector weight(s) mounted as mentioned in the measurement certificate, even the boat is within the weight limits.
Mast/Boom: Random checks will be applied for mast and boom.
Rudder/Centerboard: The thickness and weight of the rudder and centerboard will be checked. Shape has been measured very often in recent years.
Weights: Random checks will be defined in advance of the event. At least 1 boat per nation will be checked.

Checks during the event will be of course possible at any time.

Sailing season 2022 at UYCAs has begun!

In mid-May we had the Star-Class Fleet-Championship with the famous "Wind of Roses” (Rosenwind; see visitors informatiuon - venue) and last weekend the Moth-Class came to the club for their Austrian National Championship. The sailors of this ultra-fast, foiling one-man class obviously felt at home on Lake Attersee in a sometimes treacherous and tricky westerly wind of up to 17-18 knots.
THE highlight of 2022 will be the European Championship Contender in August - we look forward to seeing you!
So far we already have entries from 7 nations!
Who will be the next?
